Fall is a Time for Change! Run + Smoothies

It's official. I decided I'm going to start blogging my health and fitness journey on here. For one, blogging helps me stay accountable, and it also gives me an outlet to post all my foodie pictures and homemade dishes (which would have been too overwhelming if posted on instagram). Second, there's only so much content I could write if I stuck with only posting about home decor and organization. :)

Anyways, my Friday morning started off pretty well. Although I didn't wake up early enough for my morning workout, I did squeeze in some time to make a green smoothie. I used my NutriBullet to blend spinach, frozen bananas, frozen mangos, two pitted dates, and chia seeds. It's been insanely hot here in Los Angeles, so the smoothie helped me stay cool during my morning walk to the office (its around a 1 mile walk).

For the second time this month, I had to buy lunch. I've been really good with my food budget so far. I either pack lunch or eat what my work provides (we've had a lot of free lunches/dinners lately). Today, I got the pickled sausage dish at one of my favorite lunch spots in downtown - Rice Bar. They serve Filipino food, and it was delicious. The other day, I had surprise flowers delivered to my office from my Seattle colleagues. They look and smell amazing. I love how they brighten my desk.

As soon as 5 o'clock hit, I made a beeline to the gym to attend spin class. This was my first time at that gym location, so I wasn't sure what the class would be like. Apparently, I did not read the details closely, because the class was virtual, not instructor-led. That meant I was being motivated by some video they played on the projector. Also, there were other people inside the room blasting their music, because there was no instructor to kick them out. So that was totally distracting! I finished my 45-minute workout, but I'm definitely not going back to that class!

I walked the 1.5 mile home from the gym. It was a nice Friday evening.

I had leftover sausage from my lunch. For dinner, I decided to cut back on my carb intake, so I ate the sausage with spinach, arugula, and whatever leftover veggies I had - olives, tomatoes, bell peppers.

The next morning, I woke up early and was out by 7am for my morning run at the local park. I haven't ran outside in FOREVER. I aimed for 3 miles, and surprisingly I finished. To tell you the truth, I was going extremely slow. If I was in competition with a brisk walker, it's hard to say who would win. My time was about 35 minutes. I know... terrible! My goal is to run a 5k in 25 minutes, so I'm going to keep working at it.

After my run, I was starving. I mixed avocado, cumin, and tomatoes and spread it over some brown rice cakes. I was also in the mood for ice cream so I blended frozen berries & coconut water.

Later that morning, I got my haircut. It's been two months since my last trim. My hair was a total mess! My hairdresser could barely comb through it, because it was so dry! I told her it was the result of daily curling, not brushing my hair, and swimming in chlorine water. She did an amazing job trimming all my split ends and even gave me beachy curls at the end. I'll have to post a picture later.

Later that day, I went out with my friend to Little Tokyo for sushi. It was my first time at a revolving sushi bar, so that was pretty cool. Later, we had drinks in K-town. I opted for the yogurt soju. The night was definitely interesting to say the least.. LOL.

Because my somewhat late night out, I slept in the next morning. I woke up in time to get ready for my eye exam appointment, but I didn't have a chance to work out. Also my body was feeling really sore for some reason. I'm not sure if it was because of my run or because I slept in a weird position. Anyways, I met my friend for lunch at Cafe Gratitude. This place is pretty cool. They serve vegan dishes, and everything on their menu is healthy. Today, I ordered 'I am whole.' It contains brown rice, kale, kimchee, almonds, tahini sauce, and yam. I'm definitely coming back to try the other items!

Anyways, I am having a relaxing Sunday so far catching up on cleaning my apartment, Blue Bloods, and organizing my calendar and budget! :)
