#NewYearNewMe

Hello hello & Happy Chinese New Year! Long time no update, I know. I've been super busy with work, traveling, and well, enjoying my life in LA. :)

Truthfully, the last couple of months hasn't been so great diet-wise. My work provided me free lunch almost everyday, so I ate out... A LOT. I'd get so full from lunch, that I didn't really even need to make dinner. I rarely cooked. It was terrible. That's why this year I'm really going to focus on my health and fitness. No more excuses!

A few weeks ago, I signed up for Class Pass, and I absolutely love it! Class Pass is about $119/month here in LA, but it gives you access to a bunch of fitness studios in your area. What's even better is you get to use it when you travel to other major cities as well. This fits me perfectly, because sometimes I have to fly for work for a couple of days or spend extensive time in Atlanta visiting family. Also, because they charge you 20 bucks if you cancel your class within 12 hours or don't show up, I'm super motivated to go to every class I sign up for. I've been to one almost every day! I even wake up for the 6am ones! :) Also, I think group fitness suits me the best, because I'm not very self-motivated. When I go to the gym by myself, I often end my work out early, and I don't push myself as hard.

My go-to classes so far have been spin, barre, hot yoga, & pilates.

Fall is a Time for Change! Run + Smoothies

It's official. I decided I'm going to start blogging my health and fitness journey on here. For one, blogging helps me stay accountable, and it also gives me an outlet to post all my foodie pictures and homemade dishes (which would have been too overwhelming if posted on instagram). Second, there's only so much content I could write if I stuck with only posting about home decor and organization. :)

Organization: A Card For Every Occassion

Have you ever found yourself running to the grocery store at the last minute to buy a card for your friend's birthday? Or buying generic Christmas cards in bulk and accidentally sending the same one you bought last year to a friend the next year, because you have so many of them, and you forgot which ones you've sent to whom? Well, that used to be me a few years ago. Often times, I either send their card weeks later or forget to buy a card all together because it was such a burden to make a trip to the store to buy one card. However, I knew this was a very unthoughtful thing to do. So slowly, I just began buying greeting cards whenever I spotted a cute or funny one when I'm out grocery shopping. This is how my greeting card organizer started.

I got my box from The Container Store. It was a simple white box with movable dividers. The box also came with one hard divider in the middle, but I ripped it out because it was messing up my divider flow. With washi tape and a label maker, I customized the box to my own liking.

DIY: Kate Spade - Inspired Nesting Boxes

Wanna know what's the best-kept secret about organization? Hiding your clutter. When shopping for decor, I always gear towards items that both look good and act as storage for my miscellaneous items. Think - hollow books, lined woven baskets, anything with drawers, and like the ones featured in today's post, decorative storage boxes.

As I was searching for items to fill my empty book shelf, I came across these Kate Spade nesting boxes. They were fun, chic, and most importantly, had touches of gold. If it isn't obvious, I absolutely love gold. I guess I discovered this about myself after going to stores and noticing how I'm pretty much drawn to everything that had gold details on it. Needless to say, it wasn't a surprise when I found myself fawning over the gold-rimmed lids on these babies.

I debated for a while about whether I should just bite the bullet and pay a steep $54 & shipping for the real deal. I mean, at the end of the day, they're just boxes. Is it really worth that much? Of course, with everything I get obsessed with, I like to go on Pinterest and browse for the item for most of the day. On there, I also stumbled on a bunch of DIY versions and was instantly inspired to make my own!

Updated DIY: Cloche Jewelry Holder

Sorry, it's been a while since I've updated! I have so many ideas floating around in my head and not enough time to transfer those ideas into blog posts. I've pretty much have come to accept that I will never be consistent with blogging until I'm done with law school. Good thing I'm graduating in two months! Yay! Hopefully after I graduate and take the bar exam, I can really be active with my blog. For now, I'll try to post as much as I can. I actually have been doing a bunch of DIY and updates to my room so I hope to share them on here soon!

Anyways, so about two years ago, I posted a tutorial on my DIY cloche jewelry display using recycled Bath & Body Works candle jars. I've since found another way to make a nicer, more professional looking version of the same cloche holder. This is currently how I display my watches.

DIY: Lace & Ribbon Vase

While in the process of making my room look more shabby chic, I put together this cute flower vase to sit on my nightstand.
